Andong International Mask Dance Festival won the Grand Prize in the Global Festival category at the '12th Korea National Brand Awards' on the 2nd.
'Korea National Brand Awards' is an award ceremony co-hosted by the New York Festivals, one of the world's top three advertising festivals. Based on each evaluation item such as recognition, representation, and global competitiveness, consumers directly evaluate the competitiveness of domestic brands and select targets according to the National Brand Competitiveness Index (NCI), which quantifies measurement results. Andong International Mask Dance Festival was selected as the 'Global Festival Award' with the highest National Brand Competitiveness Index (NCI) index in the festival sector.
The Andong International Mask Dance Festival, which was first held in 1997, is the only festival in the world based on the world's universal culture mask and mask dance based on the 800-year tradition of Hahoe Village and is loved by more than 1 million Koreans and foreigners every year.
Since 2002, it has been selected as one of the five honorary representative cultural and tourism festivals in Korea through the best festival, representative festival, honorary representative festival, and global promotion festival selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
An Andong city official said, "Even though the festival was not held last year due to Corona 19, the mask dance festival was selected for the national brand to prove that it is imprinted as a representative festival of Korea abroad."
