The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) is recruiting participants to join the Global Family Garden for the 2020 Seoul International Garden Show. This program intends on providing citizens with small moments of happiness while viewing various gardens of international characteristics so as to satiate their travel bug domestically in the face of restricted air travel by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This program is free and targeted to international residents (families grouped into 20 teams) living in Seoul. The Global Family Garden event will take place at Malli-dong Plaza from May 8–9.
To apply, prospective participants must submit their garden design idea. On the day of the event, families will make a mini garden in a round pot that will be provided. The event will offer a lecture by a professional horticulturist, which will facilitate the garden-making process.
A gardening kit that includes a round pot, plants, soil, trowels and aprons will be provided to the participating teams on the day of the event. If you want to decorate your garden in a unique way, you can bring your own garden ornaments.
Twenty global family gardens that will be completed will be exhibited at Malli-dong Plaza during the period of the Seoul International Garden Show (May 14–20, 2021).
