Daejeon City prepares to hold 2022 UCLG General Assembly

Daejeon City (mayor Huh Tae-jung) organized a special session of the 2022 Daejeon United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) General Assembly (hereinafter referred to as Special Session TF) and held a kick-off at the Daejeon Convention Center at 2 p.m. on the 21st.

On May 11, the Daejeon Metropolitan Government announced that it plans to form a special session on universal issues such as smart city, peace, and education through the 2022 United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) General Assembly and operate it as 10 sessions for 3 days.

This special session TF is a follow-up to the basic plan report meeting, which was organized to plan and promote special sessions in cooperation with Daejeon City and domestic and foreign organizations.

Participants in the meeting said, "The 2022 United Cities and Local Government General Assembly is a great opportunity to promote Daejeon to the world," and agreed to work together to set the stage for international discourse on a variety of topics that can be shared.

In the future, the Daejeon Metropolitan Government plans to reflect the theme and program form of the session discovered through the Special Session TF in the detailed promotion plan of the General Assembly. Later this year, it will propose to the UCLG World Office's General Assembly Program Committee as the 'Daejeon Track'.

Cho Han-sik, head of the UCLG planning team in Daejeon, said. "For the 2022 Daejeon United Cities and Local Government General Assembly to be held as a national event, cooperation with the city, domestic and foreign organizations is important." "In addition to the special session TF, we will do our best to prepare for the successful general assembly by cooperating with the government and related agencies through various channels."
