The "2021 Asian Cup Boryeong International Yacht Competition," which will be held in Boryeong City for the first time in Korea, will be held in front of Daecheon Beach for six days from the 21st to the 26th.
The competition will be held in a fleet race method in which several yachts participate at the same time, not a match race method in which two boats compete against each other in three sports: J/70, Optimist (one-seater youth), and 49er (two-seater).
Six teams, including Yeosu City Hall, BUG, Pyeongtaek Devils, Team Picnic, Team Chungnam, and Team Haeundae, who won the qualifying round until the 11th, will participate in the J/70 event, with a total of 50 ships, including 40 in the Optimist event and 5 in the 49er event.
In particular, in addition to watching the yacht competition, visitors can enjoy mud experiences such as mud spray shower booths and mud beach care at Daecheon Beach in conjunction with the 24th ON&OFF Boryeong Mud Festival and participate in various programs such as marina conference, marine leisure industry exhibition, and marine leisure sports.
"We will run a differentiated yacht competition that combines experience and tourism by linking the Boryeong International Yacht Competition and mud festival," Mayor Kim Dong-il said. "We will foster Boryeong as the center of the yacht industry and a base for marine leisure tourism.“
Meanwhile, the opening ceremony to announce the opening of the 2021 Asian Cup Boryeong International Yacht Competition will be held at 7 p.m. at Mud Square in Daecheon Beach on the 23rd.
