The BTS hit "Butter" is this year's longest-reigning No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, the U.S. music media outlet's main singles chart, at nine straight weeks.

Billboard on Aug. 2 said "Butter" held on to the top spot for the ninth straight week.

The previous longest No. 1 song this year was American singer Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" at eight consecutive weeks.

"Butter" topped the Hot 100 for seven straight weeks after its release until another BTS hit, "Permission to Dance," took over the top spot. "Butter" regained No. 1 on July 31 and has stayed there over the past two weeks.

Both songs allowed BTS to remain at the chart's summit for 10 straight weeks.

Billboard said that "Butter" attracted 30.5 million radio airplay audience impressions and 8.1 million streams in the U.S. for the week ending July 29, along with 112,900 unit sales.

Overall, the K-pop sensation has topped the Hot 100 for a combined 15 weeks with its hits "Dynamite" (three weeks), remix of "Savage Love" (one), "Life Goes On" (one), "Permission to Dance" (one) and "Butter" (nine).
