You can hike up Mt. Sikjangsan, the highest mountain in Daejeon; Saecheon Park has been designated as Saecheon Ecological Preserved Forest, preserving the natural ecology. As you walk along the forest and valley, you will eventually arrive at the Sunrise Observatory where you can look down at Daejeon City.

Once you reach the Sunrise Observation, the aerial view of Daejeon City unfolds refreshingly, and in the vicinity, you can enjoy Saecheon Catchment Area and Gujeolsa Temple that was built in the 2nd year of King Taejo from the Joseon Dynasty (1393).

Many types of native plants are growing in the forest of Mt. Sikjangsan with the main species being the oriental oak, as well as colonies of Suwon silver poplar, Siberian alder, white oak and chestnut trees. Saecheon Ecological Preserved Forest is comprised of food planting sites, a reed field, swamp area and others, and it is home to mammals such as roe deer, squirrel, wild cat, raccoon, fox, etc.
