On this post, we will be introducing some of the popular attractions within the vicinity of the pool villas that we have introduced in our previous post.

[Wolpo Beach Vicinity]

GYEONGSANGBUK-DO ARBORETUM

Situated 650 m above sea level, Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum (경상북도 수목원) is known as an “arboretum close to the sky”. There are 24 special gardens including the Alpine botanic garden, Ulleungdo Botanic Garden, etc. There is also an experiential facility for children and many other facilities. Aside from that, there is also a beautiful pond where a Dokdo-inspired structure is located.

Traveling By Train along the East Coast: Wolpo Station

In January 2018, the first phase of the Donghae Line was opened. Trains then started running from Pohang to Yeongdeok, passing Wolpo Station, Jangsa Station, and Ganggu Station. Due to Wolpo Station’s short distance from Wolpo Beach, it offers a beautiful view of the sea nearby. Those who are traveling to Pohang can now reach Yeongdeok by taking the Donghae Line train.
 

 

Wolpo Beach’s Fine Sand and the Blue Sea

In time for summer, Wolpo Beach was opened on June 23. Wolpo beach’s fine sand and shallow water allow enabling everyone to have fun swimming at the beach
 

Exploring Bogyeongsa County Park – Bogyeongsa and Nayeonsan Falls

In summer, it is also possible to Bogyeongsa County Park which is located in the northern part of Pohang. One of the main attractions in this part of Pohang is the Bogyeongsa Temple. Aside from the temple, there are also 12 waterfalls along the trekking trail.

The beautiful sunrise at Homigot and the scenic views of the Seaside Trail

Homigot is a popular place for sunrise viewing. The first sunrise on mainland Korea can be seen here. So it is no wonder that there’s always a tourist visiting this place. Nearby, there is a coastal walking path which connects parts of Guryongpo, Homigot and Janggi-myeon. It is called the “Homigot Seaside Route.
 

 

Yeon-o and Se-o Theme Park

This theme park was inspired by a popular Korean folktale Yeon-o Rang Se-o. One of the best spots at this theme park is the Hanok Observatory which offers a birds-eye-view of Pohang’s Yeongil Bay.
 

Aside from the hanok observatory, there are also thatched houses at the theme park.

Gwamegi Culture Museum

As its name suggests, Gwamegi Culture museum is a place when a tourist can learn about Pohang’s winter delicacy called gwamegi or half-dried Pacific herring.
 

The museum has a research center and promotion center as well as a Marine Experience Center. On its 4th floor, there is an observatory that offers a quite nice view of the Guryongpo and the East Coast.

Janggili Marine Theme Park: Janggili Combined Fishing Park

This marine theme park is a nice place of picnic with family and friends. It is especially popular among people who love fishing. If you find yourself in this area, make sure to stop by and have selfie or two on this sea bridge.
