The National Balanced Development Commission finally selected "DMZ Punchball Dulegil, Special Memory and Daily Recovery" by the Korea Forest Service (Director Choi Byung-am) on August 19 as an excellent example of the 2021 Balanced Development Project Evaluation.
The DMZ Punch Bowl Dulegil is a forest road built on a basin-type terrain in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, where visitors can experience and see the importance of the wounds of war and peace.
The Korea Forest Service has designated the DMZ Punch Bowl Dulegil as a national forest road on May 1 of this year. Various programs have been developed and provided to visitors in conjunction with the DMZ Punch Bowl Local Garden and the DMZ's Self-Generated Botanical Garden.
In addition, various programs such as selling local specialties such as apples produced by residents in mountainous areas and lunch boxes prepared by agricultural products produced in clean areas were seen as excellent examples to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating local jobs.
The Korea Forest Service said, "We will continue to develop and distribute forest tourism programs linking the history and cultural resources of mountain villages with local specialties through well-organized forest roads to revitalize the mountain village economy."
