Daejeon City has always been famous as the science capital of Korea and here we are proud of the National Science Museum of Korea. It preserves a lot of proud scientific and technological achievements, marking the scientific revolutions that made Korea's civilized development.

Revolution of Scientific Technology

As the representative place of science technology, and culture, the National Science Museum was established in Seoul, Jung-Gu, Yejang-Dong in 1949 to promote the scientific developments of everyday life and to encourage the developments of scientific creativity amongst youth. In 1983, the expansion and relocation of the Science Museum took place at Daejeon’s Daedeok Science Complex, the new compound was to have a total space of 176,232㎡ and an interior space of 43,384㎡. After 5 years of construction, the current Science Museum opened on October 9th of 1990.

You can see and experience science and technologies of presence and future in the museum, which is full of interesting science stories such as how outer space has been created, how life has started and evolved. Also, it is a world-class venue of culture and science & technology. You will be impressed with the science and technologies displayed here including artificial intelligence, 5G, and other leading technologies of the 4th industrial revolution era.

The National Science Museum of Korea offers opportunities to learn about the culture and science & technology through the exhibition, education, and diverse science events. Furthermore, the organization conducts collaboration with various science museums nationwide and carry out the exhibition, research activities, and national projects by discovering invaluable legacies of culture and science & technologies in order to pass them on to our descendants.

National Science Museum

  • Open time: Tuesday - Sunday, 9.30AM – 5.50PM (Last Admission at 5.00 pm). Closed on Monday and opened on public holidays, except New year’s Eve (January 1st). Lunar New Year’s Day (February 12th) and Korean Thanks Giving Day (September 21st)
  • Admission fee: Free (except for Science Discovery Center, Planetarium, KkumAty Hall). Paid exhibitions can be booked on the online homepage.
