Daejeon City announced on the 5th that it will hold the 2021 Daejeon International Wine Festival at the Daejeon Expo Memorial Hall and Daejeon Convention Center for 11 days from the 8th to the 18th.

This year's event, which marks its 10th anniversary, will be held with a total of 11 programs, including three online events and eight offline events in line with the With Corona era.

Events involving experts such as the Asian Wine Trophy will be held from the 8th to the 18th, and events that citizens can participate in will be mainly held for two days from the 13th to the 14th. In addition, side events such as the Virtual Wine Exhibition Hall will be held until December.

The most preferred wine fair for citizens will be held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) from the 13th to the 14th. Unfortunately, this year, wine cannot be drunk on the spot due to COVID-19, and only purchases or exhibits are available.

On the 13th, traditional Daejeon liquor such as Wonmakgeolli and Dongchundang chrysanthemum wine will be gathered together to hold a fair at Dongchundang, Daedeok-gu. Both events can only participate if the second vaccination is completed or the PCR test is negative.

Participation applications are free of charge through the Daejeon International Wine Festival website (www.djwinefair.com) and on-site applications, and up to 499 people are allowed at the same time.

The events will include a Citizen Sommelier Contest for Daejeon citizens, a Winery Photo Zone to induce interest in the MZ generation and become a hot place on SNS.

Other side events were prepared for wine seminars linked to dinner events from November to December in collaboration with restaurants and tourist hotels in the jurisdiction to support win-win support for small business owners and revitalize the local economy. Related detailed schedules and locations can be found on the Daejeon International Wine Festival website.

As an online program, the Virtual Wine Exhibition Hall*, which embodies the Wine Fair venue online, will run for two months (November to December). It also provides wine companies and product information and operates related business consultations.

In addition, a "conference" to provide wine information reflecting domestic and foreign wine trends and a "LAN Cable Wine Tasting" that can easily access wine are held, and access is possible through MBC YouTube in Daejeon.

In addition, Daejeon is expected to emerge as the center of wine distribution by holding an Asian wine trophy that requires expert review, a national sommelier competition, and a wine roadshow involving domestic and foreign wine buyers and importers.

Son Cheol-woong, director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Daejeon City, said, "The 2021 Daejeon International Wine Festival is a festival that marks the first step in recovery to daily life in the With Corona era, and we will do our best to increase the proportion of offline participation and make it a safe festival.“

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the Daejeon International Wine Festival has become meaningful in terms of international credibility, sustainability, and history of events, and wine selected through the Wine Trophy is a representative urban marketing product distributed around the world under the Daejeon Label.
