Daejeon City's hydrogen technology export route is open... Promotion of cooperative projects with Abu Dhabi City.

Daejeon City and Korea Gas Technology Corporation announced on the 18th that they signed a technology cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi City, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to build hydrogen-based public transportation infrastructure.

This agreement materializes the hydrogen cooperation agreement signed by South Korea and the United Arab Emirates in 2019. Daejeon City Deputy Mayor of Science Kim Myung-soo, Abu Dhabi City Vice Minister of Local Autonomy and Transport Abdullah Al-Sahi, and Korea Gas Technology Corporation President Cho Yong-don signed in Abu Dhabi City at 10 p.m. local time on the 18th.

According to the agreement, Daejeon City and Abu Dhabi City will cooperate in building green hydrogen-based charging infrastructure and research and development.

With this agreement, Daejeon City has secured a bridgehead for exporting hydrogen charging infrastructure technologies in all fields, including hydrogen production, transportation, supply, and charging, not only domestically but also overseas.

The overseas export of hydrogen technology is being promoted as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's overseas hydrogen-based public transport infrastructure technology development project. Daejeon City was selected for this project in June.

Daejeon City is working with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation to develop localization technology for hydrogen charging infrastructure and build overseas (UAE) through domestic demonstration of green hydrogen production technology using water electrolysis facilities.

It will proceed in a total of two stages, with 35.2 billion won invested in the project. It plans to develop a water electrolysis and hydrogen bus charging and operation model in the first stage, and develop a bus garage hydrogen charging station based on localized water electrolysis technology applied to the UAE in the second stage.

Kim Myung-soo, deputy mayor of Daejeon City, said, "We will do our best to develop a successful hydrogen bus garage-type charging infrastructure localization technology through business cooperation between Daejeon City and Korea Gas Technology Corporation. Through this, we will provide administrative support to deliver perfect hydrogen infrastructure technology and know-how in operating public transportation to Abu Dhabi.", promising friendly cooperation between the two countries.
