The K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has achieved a global first with 70 million subscribers on its official YouTube channel.

The act's management agency YG Entertainment on Nov. 28 said that as of 11:34 a.m., the number of subscribers on the group's channel broke 70 million, a milestone achieved in five years and five months since the channel's launch on June 28, 2016.

In July last year, BLACKPINK became the first act from a non-English speaking country to rank among YouTube's five most-subscribed channels. The group gradually nudged ahead of global pop superstars like Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmallow and Justin Bieber to take the world's top spot on Sept. 10.

Since its debut, BLACKPINK has regularly released group and solo projects to attract millions of subscribers and rapidly expand its global popularity. Most recently, member Lisa's first solo album "Lalisa" led to an increase of five million subscribers.

The group's YouTube channel contains 32 videos each with more than 100 million views, with the cumulative number of their views at 21.3 billion.

The music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU," the main track of BLACKPINK's first mini-album "Square Up," reached 1.7 billion views, and those for the group's hits "Kill This Love," "As If It's Your Last," and "How You Like That" recently hit a billion views each.
