Beside the busy Eunhaeng-dong street lined with restaurants and shopping, there is a place that lurks full of Korean street food and good Vietnamese eateries, that is Daejeon Jungang Market (대전중앙시장). Today I will show you how exciting the Jung-gu district is!
This is a place where every time I pass by, I can't take my eyes off anything. The street food sold in the Jungang Market is so attractive! I still remember the first time I came here with my friends, I got lost because I was too busy looking at the food. There are also Vietnamese restaurants here and that also why I come here so often. I know Korean food is delicious, but not trying Vietnamese food is a huge waste! Choose a free day and go to Jungang Market to try it with your friends!
I often go to Jungang Market with my friends on my free weekend to go to the market. The reason we love shopping for food here is definitely that they are really cheap! Not only food but also kitchen utensils are much cheaper than in supermarkets, and their quality is also better than in Daiso!
The market is a really large comprehensive market consisting of many smaller markets that sell anything you need: Hanbok, bedding, jewely, clothes, food, etc. That is why it is divided into many small markets, or as they call it, the 'stations' - dried seafood street, hardware street, fish street, herbal medicine street, hanbok street, delicacy street, and so on.
What I like most about the Jungang Market is probably the smell of street food. My friend and I used to eat sundae (순대) here. If you are a foreigner, try this: Choose a vendor, sit down, and enjoy the street food in the middle of the day. That feeling is very 'Daejeon', leisure and peace amidst the hustle and bustle of life. But hey! Is there ever a rush in this beautiful city? Just take it slow and enjoy this life!
