Netflix on Jan. 18 announced that it will release this year 25 original Korean works. Shown is a scene from "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area."

Netflix this year will release 25 original Korean works including "Train to Busan" director Yeon Sang-ho's new film "Jung-E" and the Korean version of the hit Spanish series "Money Heist."

The global streaming service on Jan. 18 said the 25 will include 13 dramas and six movies, and the overall number is 10 more than last year.

Netflix's first new Korean work for release this year, "All Of Us Are Dead," will make its global premiere on Jan. 28. The series is about a zombie virus outbreak at a high school.

"Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area," the Korean adaptation of the hit "Money Heist," is also coming out this year.

The series "Juvenile Justice" starring veteran actor Kim Hye-soo is about judges in the juvenile court system and teenage criminals.

Other forthcoming programs include "The Sound of Magic," "Glitch," "Deliveryman" and "Suriname."

Movie lovers can look forward to the Netflix-produced "Jung-E," "Carter," "Seoul Vibe" and "20th Century Girl."

Director Yeon, who directed "Train to Busan" and the Netflix hit drama "Hellbound," is back with "Jung-E," a sci-fi thriller about a competition in the 22nd century to clone the brain of legendary mercenary Jung-E for use in military robots.

The global streaming service has included a considerable number of Korean content this year given how Korean dramas including "Squid Game," "Kingdom" and "Extracurricular" were global hits last year.

The time that Netflix users watched Korean content as of the end of last year jumped over six fold over the past two years.

Since launching its service in Korea in 2016, the company has invested over KRW 1 trillion in Korean content and introduced 130 Korean-made shows overseas.

The site called 2021 a "significant time that marked the beginning of the era of Korean-created content viewed by the entire world."

Kang Dong-han, vice president of content at Netflix Korea, said, "Netflix, along with its creators, will continue spurring its journey of exporting Korean stories to 190 countries around the world."

"All Of Us Are Dead," set for global release on Jan. 28, is an original Korean series on Netflix about a zombie virus outbreak at a high school.
