Buyeo, where the tradition is alive”
If you remember the WalkintoKorea tour of the historical sites of the Baekje era, you will remember the two cities we went to, Gongju and Iksan. Today, we will introduce to you a city that is the center of Baekje culture, one of the three cities that preserve the historical monuments of the Baekje era, Buyeo city. This is where you can find impressive traditions and beautiful culture.
Located in the Southern part of Chungcheongnam-do, the land of Great Baekje Buyeo is a blessed land of the Geumgang River. Buyeo county is home to some of the most magnificent historical landmarks. They include the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Busosanseong Fortress and Jeongnimsa Temple Site, as well as the popular photo destination Gungnamji Pond, which is not far from downtown.
National Buyeo Museum is a must-see attraction in Buyeo. In this roof-less museum, you can witness the living Baekje with 266 ruins and relics hidden in every corner of the city. The 'Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje,' one of the finest masterpieces of Baekje civilization, can be seen immediately. The 'Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje,' discovered in the mud at the Neungsalli Ancient Tombs in Buyeo in December 1993, was almost uninjured and intact.
Not only with the historical relics, Buyeo City is also famous for its specialty food. According to K-FoodTrade, there are ten must-eat meals when visiting Buyeo. They are Lotus Leaf Rice, Mushroom Hotpot, Roasted Korean Beef, Spicy King Crab Soup, Mushroom Gimbap, Wild Vegetable Bibimbap, Grilled Eel, and Lotus Bread, all of which can be found on 'GoodTrae Food Street.'
Buyeo Lotus Bread is especially recommended because it is not available in other locations. Buyeo is well-known for its lotus flower-inspired cuisine, including lotus leaf rice, lotus bread, and lotus tea. Every July, the Lotus Festival is celebrated in Gungnamji Pond, a popular photo spot with a stunning lotus complex.
