From February 12 to March 27, a special exhibition commemorating the 90th birthday anniversary of Paik Nam June, a master of world contemporary art and media art will be held at Shinsegae Gallery (located on the 6th floor of Shinsegae ART & Science in Daejeon).

In this exhibition, you can see the artistic world of Paik Nam June, a revolutionary artist who freely crosses media, as well as video art and TV sculpture representing Paik Nam June (1932-2006), as well as drawings and collages.

Paik Nam June, who has shown unconventional performances on the world stage since the 1960s, pioneered a new field of media art using the TV Braun tube. Since then, the appearance of media art pioneered by Paik Nam June has changed and expanded over the years, but the concept of the combination of video and art he left behind is evaluated as a 'current progressive art' that is still evolving.

Another protagonist of this exhibition, Lee Lee Nam (1969-), presents media art, sculpture, and flat works, including 'TV Pinocchio', a work dedicated to 'TV Buddha', one of the representative works of Paik Nam June, the founder of media art.

Writer Lee Lee Nam has established himself as a media artist following Paik Nam June, and artists with different senses and perspectives from previous generations are following him.

An official from Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, Korea's largest shopping mall, said, "We will create exhibitions that open a new path by fusing ART and SCIENCE in Daejeon, the science capital."
