This year, UCLG's global urban diplomacy stage will be held from October 10-14 at Daejeon Convention Center (DCC).
The World Federation of Local Governments (UCLG) is the only international organization of local governments recognized by the United Nations (UN). With over 240,000 local governments in 140 countries around the world as member cities, it is an 'international organization representing 70% of the world's population'.
UCLG General Assembly is the largest international conference between local governments globally, held every three years. Leaders of local cities gather to discuss global issues, including sustainable development, world peace, regional autonomy, decentralization, etc., and seek practical solutions.
As the only divided country globally, Daejeon is a place for peace-building through urban communities across the globe. It will be the right place for global discourse on the future of sustainable cities in the post-corona era and for introducing and sharing innovative city technology in Daejeon, the special city of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The composition of the Daejeon General Assembly will be including various official events, such as opening and closing ceremonies, World General Assembly, Continental Bee Meeting, etc. Also, there will be a number of Daejeon Programs, like the South-North City Peace Declaration, Carbon Neutral City Declaration, etc.) And remarkably, with the participation of citizen travel agencies, there will be lots of exciting events included, named as K-pop concerts, drone shows, innovative city exhibitions, and various related events. The scale of participation was determined as 5,000 delegates from 140 countries and 1,000 local governments. This is going to be a significant event in Daejeon. Stay tuned!
