On the morning of the 6th, Daejeon City held a ceremony to commemorate the 67th Memorial Day in the presence of about 3,000 people including Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-Jung, people of national merit, veterans' families, students, and ordinary citizens at the Memorial Square of the Daejeon National Cemetery in the morning of the 6th.
Under the slogan "I remember your sacrifice to protect the Republic of Korea," the commemoration ceremony was held solemnly to commemorate the sacrifices and contributions of the martyrs and heroic spirits who gave their lives for the country.
The memorial service began with a one-minute silent tribute to the sound of sirens ringing across the country at 10 o'clock sharp, followed by flowers and incense, memorial services, memorial dedication and performances, and singing of Memorial Songs.
Daejeon Mayor Huh Tae-Jung said, "I hope citizens will also have respect and appreciation so that all those who have devoted themselves to the country, remembering the noble sacrifices of patriotic martyrs and patriots, who have devoted themselves to the country, will have greater pride than anything else."
Meanwhile, this year's Memorial Day memorial ceremony was held in a grand manner in two years with the participation of ordinary citizens as well as people of national merit and veterans' families as social distancing was completely lifted.
