The National Hangeul Museum will host this year's "Hangeul I Met" photography contest featuring designs of the Korean alphabet captured by both Korean and non-Korean nationals.

The museum on June 24 said it will host the second annual edition of the contest until Aug. 15 for anyone interested in Hangeul.

The theme of this year's event is "Hangeul in Your Daily Life." Entries are open to any photo taken this year showing Hangeul in daily life like those showing people learning the Korean alphabet, beautiful and unique Hangeul designs on signboards, T-shirts, bags and personal belongings that feature Korean letters, people at Hangeul-related exhibitions or Hangeul found abroad in one's surroundings or daily life.

Entries can be submitted to the contest's homepage (https://www.hangeulphoto.kr) in Korean or English. Contestants can also use the event's QR code to file a mobile application. An entrant can upload up to three photos and must provide information about them such as titles, explanations and when they were taken.

Experts will screen the entries. Thirty works including one grand prize and three gold and five silver prizes will be given. The awards ceremony will be held on Oct. 9 at the museum in Seoul's Yongsan-gu District.

The museum said, "Last year's contest received a favorable response with more than 3,000 entries. So we expect this year's contest to also offer an opportunity to widely spread the multifaceted features of Hangeul and value of Korean culture not only in Korea but also everywhere in the world."
