Demonstrations of taekwondo will be held at Cheong Wa Dae from this weekend.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government on July 10 said it will hold 30-minute performances of taekwondo on Saturdays and Sundays at 5 p.m. from July 16 through the end of August in front of the former presidential compound's main building.
Kukkiwon, or the World Taekwondo Headquarters, in May exchanged a memorandum of understanding with the city government on the performances. Launched in 1974, the organization has promoted the martial art through annual demonstrations in 20 countries.
In the upcoming event, Kukkiwon members will demonstrate creative poomse (forms) that reflect taekwondo's power and beauty and advanced skills to display the art's kicking techniques.
Information on the event is available on Cheong Wa Dae's open website (www.opencheongwadae.kr).
