Show is the 2019 edition of the Hangang Moon Light Market in Seoul.

The Hangang Moon Light Market will be held for the first time in three years, with its hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Aug. 25 said the market will open on Aug. 26 at Banpo Hangang Park in the city's Seocho-gu District.

The once-leading night event in the capital was selected one of the "top 10 news" by the public but was suspended from 2020 because of the pandemic.

To run from Aug. 26 to Oct. 29 this year, the market will be open 10 times over the period every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be closed during the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holidays (Sept. 9-12).

The event's concept is relaxation in an emotional space that harmonizes with the city's beautiful nightscape featuring the Hangang River and the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain on the Banpodaegyo Bridge.

The market this year will feature about 40 food trucks and 60 sales booths. The city government will assist food truck operators who struggled due to social distancing and provide value-based consumption goods such as vegan and recycled products for the younger generation given the latter's interest in such items.

The market's schedule is subject to change due to rain or temporary closures. Visitors are thus urged to check notifications on the event's official website (bamdokkaebi.org) or Instagram account (hangangmoonlightmarket) before going to the venue.
