Sejong City held the 'Celebration of Sejong City Tourism Day 2019 (2019 세종 관광의 날 기념식)' at the Sejong Civic Center on December 11th, 2019. 

Sejong City Tourism Association (President, 강대철 Kang Dae-cheol) organized the event, and more than 300 people attended to celebrate it. 

This event is aimed at encouraging people from the local tourism industry during the year 2019. 

Eleven tourist workers who contributed to boosting and promoting local tourism received commendations from the Sejong City Mayor, Chairman of the Korea Tourism Association, and President of the Sejong City Tourism Association.

Kang Dae-Cheol(강대철, President of Sejong City Tourism Association) delivered in his welcoming speech, "Our association will do our best to gather the united strength of our members and contribute to the local economic development through the vitalization of local tourism business in Sejong City."

 

History of Sejong City

Sejong City is located in the central inner area of Chungcheongnam-do and stretches south-north. Consequently, from ancient times, the current city areas were divided by the Charyeong Mountains and the Geumgang River into parts of Jeoneui, Yeongi, and Geumnam. However, with the recent road construction, those areas were combined into one.

Tourist Attractions

Sejong Lake Park(세종호수공원)

Sejong Lake Park is Korea's largest artificial lake, which is 62 times as big as a soccer field and has 3m of average water level. You can find a beautifully unfolded screen in the neighborhood with the National Library of Sejong and the Jeonwolsan Mountain, which fit in perfectly with the park.

Bangchukcheon(방축천)

Bangchukcheon Riverside Park is composed of five themes between 10-16 bridges around the riverside: Waterside Theme Park, Sejong Plaza, Natural Ecological Learning Sector, Water-friendly Culture Sector, and Water-friendly Activity Sector. As a rest area for Sejong citizens, this park has become a new attraction in Sejong City.

National Library of Sejong (세종국립도서관)

With two underground floors and four floors above the ground, the National Library of Korea, Sejong represents the city's cultural center, which is frequently visited by families since its foundation in 2013. It has the necessary facilities, including a library, reading rooms, lecture hall, and cafeteria, and provides various educational programs and lectures.

Geumgang River National Recreation Forest(금강자연휴양림)

The Geumgang River National Recreation Forest is a perfect place for the summer vacation to both enjoy the history of Baekje and experience learning in the forest. As it has untouched natural characteristics, you can see the green environment from the entrance of the forest and see a variety of tropical plants in the Tropical Greenhouse, the forest's landmark. From mid-July to August, a camping site opens to experience pleasant camping.

Beartree Park(베어트리파크)

With about 1,000 different types of flowers and trees in the site of 100,000㎡, Beartree Park provides a variety of things to watch made of unique materials along with trees and bears.

Dweeungbark Village(뒤웅박 고을)

If you walk through from the entrance of the village, you can see a magnificent view with a thousand jars full of the traditional sauces. Located at the foot of the Unjusan Mountain, Sejong City, Dwiungbak Village is a classic sauce theme park where residents can spend a leisurely time with conventional sauces and culture.

Biamsa Temple(비암사)

Biamsa Temple is said to be a temple founded by the Great Master Doseon during the late Unified Silla era, but the accurate history has not identified yet. The house in the Geukrakbojeon Hall of Biamsa Temple, which was restored in 8th the year during the reign of King Hyojong (1657), has a delicate and glamorous design.

Festivals

Sejong Festival(세종축제)

Based on the myths of King Sejong the Great, Hangeul, and Sejong City, the Sejong festival provides various programs to satisfy visitors, including concerts, contests, and many other events immensely worth experiencing.

Jochiwon Peach Festival(조치원복숭아축제)

Jochiwon Peaches are agricultural products widely recognized for their superb quality. 

The Jochiwon Peach Festival provides tourists from other regions of Korea and foreign countries with the opportunity to feel and experience the subtle fragrance and superb taste of the Jochiwon Peach as much as they wish.
