Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo is currently on a business trip to the U.S. and Europe (on the 22nd- local time in New York). He visited the abandoned railway site, now reborn as a world-class tourist attraction. These are New York City's Best Urban Renewal projects, including High Line Park and Hudson Yards as primary examples.

High Line Park is a 1.6 km long linear park, in Lower West side, Manhattan. The overhead cargo route on the side was planted with flowers and trees and set up with benches. It was established as a park and a tourist attraction visited by 8 million people annually in New York and is considered to be a representation of regeneration. 

The Hudson Yards business is a former railway vehicle base in Manhattan.  It is a large-scale development project that rejuvenates abandoned land, and it will start the second stage in 2025. The project is scheduled to be completed. with Vessel and The Shed, a beehive-like observatory which will be the highest observatory in New York. The '30 Hudson Yard' building (390m) has become a New York landmark. 

After his observation of the sites, Mayor Lee said, "This will be the goal for Daejeon Overpass and Daejeon Station's future. We will base on the development process of the Renewal Projects and actively push it to be perceived as a landmark". 

Afterward, the Mayor visited the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA). He had an interview with CEO of ERA, Murat Aktihanoglu and got some information about the the status of ERA's startup development.

Mayor Lee announced plans to establish a startup incubator for Daejeon City and KAIST. In detail, by utilizing the ERA Mentor network belonging to a world-class conglomerate, he hope to hold a business meeting with a start-up company in Daejeon. In addition, this event should fo cus on “training for Daejeon startup companies to enter the US". 

He also asked for support for accelerating programs.ERA is New York's oldest and most recognizable accelerator. It has produced more than 280 startups since its establishment in 2011.

On the other hand, the Mayor is interested in representative buildings in New York. He had a tour of the Guggenheim Museum which will be useful for the future construction of public buildings in Daejeon.
