A flamboyant display of fireworks in Busan next month will decorate the night sky.
Busan Metropolitan City on Oct. 24 said the Busan Fireworks Festival on Nov. 5, the first in three years, will be hosted at three locations: Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong-gu District, Dongbaekseom Island in Haeundae-gu District and Igidae Coastal Trail in Nam-gu District.
Commemorating its 17th anniversary, the festival this year features the theme "Harmony of Busan" in presenting the city as a gateway to a new culture where the past and future coexist and where people from a range of cultures form a harmony unique to Busan.
Preliminary events such as fireworks busking and talk show and the opening ceremony on Nov. 5 will be held from 2 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Events like the "Overseas Fireworks Show" and "Busan Multi-Fireworks Show" scheduled on the same day from 8 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. will beautifully illuminate the night sky and present a cinematic-like spectacle.
Seats to be placed in front of Hotel Aqua Palace and Homers Hotel at Gwangalli Beach are sold out. All other areas will offer free viewing.
Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon said, "I want to see everyone again at this moment I've missed and waited for three years, the Busan Fireworks Festival," adding, "When a fleeting moment becomes eternal, we invite both domestic and foreign tourists to the Busan Fireworks Festival to create unforgettable memories with loved ones."
