The famous bakery of Daejeon is now going above and beyond its sweet work to contribute to the community another cultural sighting

Sungsimdang Bakery is a well-known and much beloved bakery to everyone, from the citizens of Daejeon to domestic Koreans, even foreigners coming to Daejeon could hardly resist its attractive and distinguish treats.

Recently, CEO  Lim Young-jin (임영진) announced on the 29th that it opens the Sungsimdang Cultural Complex (성심당 문화원) in Daejeon. This cultural space includes eco-friendly, vegan products such as cafe and bake goods and souvenirs on the theme "Fun bread life with Seongsimdang" (성심당과 함께 하는 즐거운 빵 생활). There is also a product in collaboration with Dong A pencil (동아연필) with the name ‘흑심×빵심’ (Rough translation: "Black Core x Bread Core"). On the second floor is the recycled and reform products such as refined soybean oil after frying, and pouches and tote bags made from recycled waste banners and flour bags.

The most special thing about this complex is on the 4th floor - an exhibition space named Gallery Laru (갤러리 라루). An official from the Sungsimdang Cultural Complex said, “Through this heritage center, we hope that many customers who visit Daejeon from other countries will be able to share and sympathize and further understand with the story of Sungsimdang. We hope that we will be able to contribute to solving environmental problems in solidarity with citizens.”
