In response to increasing inquiries about Novel Coronavirus infection, Korea Tourism Organization (한국관광공사) decided to cooperate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Korea(질병관리본부) to actively support foreign language inquiries from foreign residents and international tourists.

The Korea Tourism Organization is currently connecting entering 1339 from foreigners to 1330 Tourist Information Call Center in order to support the interpretation service of the 1339 Call Center, which is difficult to use for foreigners. When a foreigner calls 1339, he or she can conveniently connect to a three-way call between a foreigner-1330 (an interpreter) -1339 by pressing number 4 according to the newly prepared foreign language guide.

Lee Hak-joo, head of the Tourism Industry Division, who proposed the cooperation, said, “We will actively promote the use of 1339 so that foreign residents and foreign tourists living in Korea can receive accurate information related to the coronavirus.”

The 1330 Tourist Information Call Center is providing interpretation services through three-way calls in emergencies in conjunction with the National Police Agency and the National Fire Service. They also offer translated message service to foreigners living in Korea in concurrence with the Ministry of Interior and Safety. A total of eight languages (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, and Indonesian) are available, and English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean service operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
