Seong Nak-won, president of the Film Council, was elected as the 12th president of the Daejeon City Branch of the Korean Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (hereby refer to as Daejeon Arts Center)
On the 24th, Daejeon Arts Center held the regular general meeting and executive election for 2023, and 49 out of 50 delegates attended and voted. The provincial association president who received the vote was elected as the 12th president.
As a pledge, Chairman Seong has promised to ‘improve treatment of senior artists’, ‘role as a hub and platform for K-art contents’, ‘securing budget for arts and culture projects’, and ‘development of convergence and complex contents for associations’.
Chairman Seong said, "I will fulfill the pledges I made during my term," adding, "I will make sure to achieve the globalization of the Daejeon Yechong and grow into harmony." .
"We will find about 30 new artists every year and expand the scope of Daejeon Arts Center by revitalizing the special membership system," he said. "We will do our best to serve as a bridge for artists to stand on the international stage based on our experience of setting up artists in Daejeon such as dance, Korean traditional music and art."
Meanwhile, Mr. Seong is a film culture expert who has served as president of the Daejeon City branch of the Korean Film Council, adjunct professor at Gongju Film University of the Korea Youth Film Arts Promotion Agency, and president of the Korea Youth Film Arts Promotion Agency.
