To mark the 104th anniversary of the Korean Provisional Government, a ceremony to honor and pass on the administration's proud history is slated for April 11 at 10 a.m. at Seodaemun Independence Park in Seoul's Seodaemun-gu District.

Under the slogan "Free People of an Independent Democratic Nation" (unofficial translation), this year's ceremony will see 400 people attending including the relatives of pro-independence patriots, leading government officials and youth. The 45-minute event will also feature the opening ceremony and performance, entrance of the national flag Taegeukgi, pledge of allegiance and commemorative performances and speeches.

The opening ceremony will have a play reading congratulatory notes on the establishment of the provisional government and a new theme song written for the ceremony chanted in unison. The presentation of eight types of Taegeukgi expressing the drive toward independence will follow.

A reenactment will explain the processes of the setup of the provisional government starting with the March First Independence Movement and the enactment of the Republic of Korea's provisional charter. Later, descendants of pro-independence patriots and a student leader will recite the charter.

The performance "The Country Our Patriotic Martyrs Yearned For" (unofficial translation) has a video with quotes from five key members of the provisional government, its journey and the state of the nation. The cast sings "I'm A Korean," a choral piece that expresses hope and pride of the Korean people who inherited their nation through the sacrifice of the martyrs.

Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Minshik said, "We hope that this commemorative ceremony for the 104th anniversary of the Korean Provisional Government is an opportunity for the Korean people, who are living as the 'free people of an independent democratic country' as the patriotic martyrs wished, to remember and inherit the Korean Provisional Government's noble spirit of independence."
