Sungsimdang Bakery

(click above for more info, as well as where to stay, what to eat, etc)

Operational since 1956, this always packed and tasty bakery was even featured in Michelin Guide Korea! Now with three locations around the city, Daejeon citizens can get their fix of Twigim Soboro (fried streusel), specialty bread, chocolates, pizza, sandwiches, and other delicacies without having to travel all the way to their original location near Daejeon Station (which is normally packed to the gills). You can also pick up a few items for your picnic at the Hanbat Arboretum.

Location : 15 Daejong-ro 48obeon-gil, Eunhaeng-dong, Jung gu, Daejeon

Expo Bridge

Probably the prettiest bridge in the city of Daejeon and especially so during the evening/night time. This bridge is famous for its blue and red (McDonalds-like) arches which project images, words and symbols via their synchronized lights when viewed from afar. In the warmer months, we can also rent kayaks or pedal boats to ride around on the Gapcheon River. It is a lovely destination for a date, for an evening stroll, a picnic by the river or a selfie shot!

Location : Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon

Hanbat Arboretum

In the middle of the buzzing metropolis of Daejeon sits just 387,000m2 (1,270,000ft) of beautiful and peaceful recreational park, full of diverse foliage, gardens, ponds, picnic spaces, traditional pagodas, children’s playgrounds and more! A wonderful place to sight-see, photograph, play, learn and enjoy nature!
