Gyeongsangnam-do (Governor Park Wan-su) conducted an on-site tour to directly promote the investment environment of Gyeongnam to potential investors who participated in the ‘2024 Gyeongsangnam-do International Tourism Investment Promotion Conference’. From the 27th to the 28th, about 30 executives from hotel industry-related companies, global PR companies, and related organizations were invited to introduce the beautiful tourism resources and investment environment of Gyeongnam.
The on-site tour for investment attraction was divided into two courses: the Eastern Course (Goseong Jarando, Tongyeong Abandoned Shipyard, Geoje Gohyeon Port, Changwon Robot Land, Changnyeong Bugok Hawaii) and the Western Course (Sancheong Donguibogam Village, Geochang Gajo Hot Spring District, Hadong Geumosan, Namhae Korea Baseball Camp, Sacheon Jindo). Participants of the on-site tour visited 10 tourism investment candidate sites.
At the 10 tourism investment candidate sites, heads of related departments from each city and county explained the current status and strengths of the candidate sites. Potential investors engaged in in-depth Q&A sessions about the infrastructure, accessibility, and possible implementation timelines of the investment candidates. Additionally, they toured the surrounding tourism resources of the investment candidate sites and participated in cultural experiences linked to the tourist attractions.
Gyeongnam-do plans to continuously strengthen networking with companies interested in investment starting with this on-site tour to attract investment in the tourism sector.
A potential investor who owns more than 1,200 hotels in China said, “The natural scenery of the southern coast is very beautiful and has great potential for the development of the tourism industry. If transportation and tourism infrastructure are further expanded, it will be possible to attract many investments and foreign tourists.” Kang Dae-hoon, CEO of the global PR company WalkintoKorea, evaluated, “Gyeongsangnam-do has advanced industrial capabilities and a natural southern coastal belt, making it highly likely to emerge as a hot investment area in Asia.”
Lee Mi-hwa, Director of the Economic and Trade Office of Gyeongnam-do, said, “This on-site tour has strengthened communication with major domestic and foreign hotel and tourism companies and officials, and has become an opportunity to solidify the network for attracting global investment. We will continue to actively promote Gyeongnam’s differentiated investment environment and excellent tourism infrastructure, including its natural environment, to ensure that Gyeongnam becomes the center of K-tourism.”
