It will be the world's first online movie screening since 2006.
The 20th Korea International Youth Film Festival, hosted by the International Youth Film and Arts Promotion Agency (Chairman Kim Kyung-woo), will receive a public contest for video works from August 3 (Mon) to 18 (Tue 24:00).
The contest section is a video work of various genres, including dramatic films, documentaries, animations, comedies, music videos, and experimental films, with the content and time of the work free, and only if it was designed and produced by youths themselves in 2019 and 2020.
Qualifications are four categories: elementary school students under the age of 13, middle school students between the ages of 14 and 16, high school students between the ages of 17 and 19, and college students between the ages of 20 and 24, and overseas youths can also submit applications. The winners will be presented with awards and trophies, including the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Minister of Education, the Chairman of the Korean Film Council, the Chairman of the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency, and the President of the International Youth Film and Arts Promotion Agency.
Those who wish to submit can download and fill out the application form from the notice in the cafe(https://cafe.naver.com/dima01) of the Korea International Youth Film Festival and send it to the festival's e-mail (email@example.com) along with the work's files.
The finalists will be announced in mid-September and will be screened online on "Naver TV" from Oct. 21-25.
The works that will advance to the finals will be presented with a separate Netizen Popularity Award, which will be appreciated by netizens and left comments at YouTube and film festival cafes. The award-winning works will be decided through fair screening by video media experts, teenagers, and public judges.
Citizens who wish to participate as members of the general jury and volunteer committee can fill out and submit certain documents on the festival's website.
The 20th Korea International Youth Film Festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, will be held in Daejeon from October 21 to 25.
Sung Nak-won, executive chairman of the Korea Youth Film Festival, said, "We will thoroughly prepare for the Corona 19 to be a safe film festival even if it continues until the festival period," adding, "The Korea Youth Film Festival has been hosting online and offline movie screenings since 2006 for the first time in the world."
