On October 7th, YG Entertainment announced that the first official album "THE ALBUM" of the girl group BLACKPINK reached 590,000 hard copies in sales on the first day of release on October 6th.

Although the songs on "THE ALBUM" were announced online on October 2nd, the physical version just officially hit the shelves on October 6th.

Thus, BLACKPINK only takes a day to surpass the record of IZ*ONE's third mini-album "Oneiric Diary" in June (390,000 copies in the first week of release).

YG said that the actual sales are even more because the above statistics do not include the number of orders exported to the US and European regions.

Previously, the number of preorders for BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" was more than 1 million copies, of which about 340,000 copies were ordered from the US and Europe, making fans expect for the group's high ranking in the charts ranks in the US and UK.

The US economic newspaper Forbes predicts that BLACKPINK will take second place in the album chart "Billboard 200" next week. If so, this will be the highest achievement of a K-Pop girl group ever.

In addition, the song "ICECREAM" that BLACKPINK announced early in August has been stable for 5 consecutive weeks on Billboard's "Hot 100" chart, the longest time for a K-Pop girl group. This week, the group's song ranked 68th, down 2 places from the previous week. Last year, BLACKPINK's song "KILL THIS LOVE" entered the chart for 4 consecutive weeks.

BLACKPINK's "ICECREAM" in collaboration with pop star Selena Gomez ranked 13th on Billboard's "Hot 100" charts in its first week of release, the highest-ranking for a K-Pop girl group.
