Dong-gu, Daejeon (District Mayor Hwang In-ho) announced that this year's Daecheong Lake Cherry Blossom Road Marathon will be held for 17 days from May 21 to June 6 in a non-face-to-face manner regardless of location and time to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Daecheong Lake Cherry Blossom Road Marathon is popular among track and field enthusiasts across the country against the backdrop of the outstanding natural scenery of Daecheong Lake in Dong-gu, Daejeon, and was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19.

In response, the district will follow the government's social distancing quarantine rules this year and push for the competition in a non-face-to-face manner, which will be a good opportunity for marathoners and Daejeon citizens across the country who have not had a chance to participate due to the prolonged COVID-19.

In particular, some of the participation fees will be used for Lee Bong-ju, a public relations ambassador for the Daecheong Lake Cherry Blossom Road Marathon, who is known to be suffering from incurable diseases recently.
