Korea.net on Dec. 31 named Japanese-language staff writer Lee Kyoung Mi as this year's staff of the year.

She captured reader attention with interesting, informative and easy-to-read articles such as "What is the secret behind Korean strawberries' success?" (Feb. 5), "Warm postbox sends consoling responses via anonymous letter service" (July 14), "Acapella group Maytree earns global fame for angelic harmony," (July 20), "Graduation photos featuring parodies bring fame to high school" (Sep. 15) and "'Squid Game' filming locations in Seoul attract hordes of visitors" (Oct. 15).

Chinese-language writer Xu Aiying said, "Not only were all of her articles this year interesting, she also strived to upgrade her content such as adding videos and narration."

English-language coworker Yoon Hee Young said, "I always look forward to reading her articles because of her refreshing and fun ideas."

On her honor, Lee said, "Many of my Korea.net colleagues work hard, so I'm a bit embarrassed to be selected but thankful as well," adding, "I hope for even better articles for Korea.net readers next year as well."

Joining Korea.net in 2017, she is the head of the site's Japanese-language section and manages Japanese-language Honorary Reporters.
