Melo-thriller 'Decision to Leave' receives Golden Globe nomination

A South Korean movie receive the prestigious nomination of a Golden Globe

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, organizer of the Golden Globe Awards, on Dec. 12 named the melo-thriller "Decision to Leave" one of the honors' five nominees for Best Picture - Non-English Language.
 

Director Park Chan-wook's movie will compete against "All Quiet on the Western Front" (Germany), "Argentina, 1985" (Argentina), "Close" (Belgium) and "RRR" (India).

Park's film is the fourth straight Korean work nominated for a Golden Globe.  

 

Director Bong Joon-ho's film "Parasite" in 2020 won the Golden Globe for best foreign-language film and director Lee Isaac Chung's "Minari" earned the same honor the following year. In January this year, actor O Yeong-su won the Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series for his role in the Netflix blockbuster series "Squid Game."

 

The Golden Globes along with the Academy Awards are considered the two pillars of the American film industry. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 10 at the hotel Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
