The K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has the fourth highest number of YouTube subscribers in the world.

The group's YG Entertainment on Aug. 17 said the number of subscribers of the group's official YouTube channel exceeded 44 million as of Aug. 16, ranking BLACKPINK top among all female acts worldwide and making it the first K-pop group to reach this milestone.

Ahead of BLACKPINK in the YouTube subscriber rankings were American singer Justin Bieber, American e-music producer and DJ Marshmello, and British singer Ed Sheeran.

Earlier on July 24, BLACKPINK moved to the No. 5 spot and ascended another notch less than a month after.

YG said the number of subscribers is an objective indicator of the group's popularity and recognition overseas, saying, "The width of BLACKPINK's influence abroad and popularity base has been verified."

Twenty of the group's videos have each garnered hundreds of millions of views. "How You Like That," which was released on June 26, recorded 86.3 million views on its first day of release and broke five Guinness World Records, including that for the most views of a YouTube video within 24 hours of its release.
