Safe Year-End Celebrations at Home! The “Culture Todak Todak” Program

In the time when year-end celebrations and even simply going out are discouraged, citizens are encouraged to take part in the Culture Todak Todak program for some entertainment. The Seoul Metropolitan Government’s (SMG) program which has been operating since September 2020 to console people exhausted from the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak will celebrate the year-end with a special program.

First, citizens’ much-beloved Visiting Performances, which received 260 stories from the audience and which its videos accumulated over 600 thousand hits, will continue until the end of the year.

The highlights of Seoul X Music Tour since October 2020 were revealed on December 25. Feel as if traveling and being at a performance by enjoying the convergence of popular music with arts in cultural attractions in Seoul.

A meaningful performance for families counting down for New Year’s is also prepared. Miracle Seoul with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra is a classical performance in various spots of Seodaemun Prison, containing the history of the ancestors who made efforts to overcome the hardships of the nation and bring us a better future. It will have a message of hope to wrap up the tough year and greet the new one to come. The performance will be revealed via the YouTube channels of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and the SMG before the online Bosingak bell-ringing ceremony on December 31. End the year by watching the classical performance held where our history lays.

More performances are prepared for citizens who cannot make personal visits. Enjoy various genres of performances at home, from Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater’s gugak performances to Namsan Arts Center’s plays and street performances.

Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, which has been closed until now, will create an online and free version of its “Sejong ON Tour,” a tour program of its performance center. A house manager who takes charge of the theater’s lobby will guide every corner and show us the inside of a pipe organ, VIP room, and more. The program has run from December 21 for about a year through Sejong Center’s YouTube channel in Korean and English.
