The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a meeting with young chefs to discuss the development of the Korean food industry at Hansik Space E:eum, a place for sharing of Korean food culture, in Seoul on 18 January.
Regarding the global popularity and competitiveness of Korean food as well as nurturing highly-competent people, diverse opinions were shared among Vice Minister Han Hoon, young chefs, Michelin-starred chefs, and those from academia and industry (CJ CheilJedang, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc.).
Vice Minister Han Hoon said: “Amid a global craze for Hallyu, or the Korean wave, we are now seeingthe golden age of Korean food. The future of Korean food lies in people after all. I would like to ask all of you here to play a leading role in enhancing the national status through Korean food.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry will announce the“Strategic Plan for Strengthening the Global Competitiveness of the Korean Food Industry” in February.
