The organizing committee, which was officially launched in June 2023, shifted from co-chairs of four cities and provinces in Chungcheong to a single chairman system to efficiently prepare for the competition in December 2023. Therefore, the honorary chairman of the four cities and provinces in Chungcheong voted and appointed former National Assembly Speaker Kang Chang-hee (former chairman) as the chairman of the organizing committee.
Accordingly, since February, the process of appointing the chairman of the organizing committee has been carried out through the executive committee and the general meeting of the members. Therefore, on March 11, Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded a certificate of appointment to Chairman Kang Chang-hee.
On Tuesday, March 12, chairman Kang Chang-hee attended the inaugural event on the first official schedule, in the committee's grand conference room in Sejong City. About 90 committee members congratulated him on his inauguration and pledged for the smooth preparation for the event.
Chairman Kang Chang-hee stated his inspiration, "As this is the first international multi-sport festival held by four cities and provinces in Chungcheong Province, we will try our best to successfully lead the competition by combining all the capabilities of the government, the National Assembly, and domestic and foreign-related organizations beyond Chungcheong." He added, "If the organizational committee employees prepare one by one with one enthusiasm, there will be nothing they can't solve," as they work with passion and confidence.
In addition, on March 13, the four cities chairman including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho, Chungbuk Governor Kim Young-hwan, and Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum will hold a meeting to discuss cooperation plan as well as receive reports on the overall work of the organizing committee and inspecting major competition facilities.
Meanwhile, the 2027 Chungcheong Summer World University Competition (the 2027 Chungcheong World U Competition) will be held for 12 days from August 1 to 12, 2027 in four cities and provinces (Daejeon, Sejong, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Chungcheongnam-do), with 15,000 participants from 150 countries around the world.
