The 2019 Daejeon International Wine Festival (hosted by Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise(대전마케팅공사)) was held at Daejeon Convention Center from August 23-25. The Festival was attended by 133 wine-related companies from 16 countries and a total of 165 booths. In addition, the Asia Wine Trophy(a major event of the festival) held the first public tasting event of 4,384 kinds of wines from 35 countries.

The Asian Wine Trophy event is hosted by Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise and German Wein Marketing Company Gmbh. The co-host, the German Wein Marketing Company Gmbh has been organizing three different wine events around the world, which are Berlin Wein Trophy, Portugal Wine Trophy, and Asian Wine Trophy. In 2019 Asian Wine Trophy, about 4,000 wines from around the world, showcased to the public and various judges from around the world who are involved in wine production, media, distribution, education and service areas attended.

The festival allowed wine lovers from mainly Daejeon or outside Daejeon area (30% of visitors) to taste and explore the diversity of world wines from different regions and styles. Wine lovers seemed very happy to taste all kinds of wines for their preferences.

The Daejeon International Wine Festival is one of Korea's leading wine events among wine lovers and also wine experts. It is highly regarded as the only event in Korea where you can sample high-quality wines from Asia's only international wine competition. Besides, it is the best event to learn wine knowledge through some lectures by various world experts and also have various cultural experiences related to wine.

From this year, they categorized the Asia Wine Trophy Tasting Zone into two separate wine tasting zones: Red Wine and White/ Rose Wine. There were helpful and friendly staffs to help you choose your preferred wines.  It must be one of the most pleasant and fascinating atmospheres for wine lovers, but also could be a thrilling scene as it was so tempting to make you try a quantity of good quality of wines. They also offered various wine classes by your level (from beginners to Masters) which you could check out and taste the characteristics of each country's wine regions.

Now the Daejeon International Wine Festival is preparing to take a leap beyond Daejeon to become a world-famous wine festival.

To do this, there are still many steps to overcome. However, trial and error and know-how accumulated each year can be the cornerstone of becoming Korea's representative wine festival.
