The Korea Forest Service (Director Choi Byung-am) will hold the 15th World Forest Conference, which was temporarily postponed due to the spread of COIVD-19, at COEX in Seoul on May 2-6 next year.
The World Forest Conference is the largest international conference held every six years, and Korea was originally scheduled to host the 15th World Forest Conference in May this year but was temporarily postponed due to the spread of COIVD-19.
As the date of the World Forest Conference is fixed, the Korea Forest Service is in a position to re-examine the preparations so far, while systematically establishing a preparatory plan for the general meeting by sector and hold the general meeting without any disruptions.
Also, the schedule for receiving draft papers, posters, and videos to be announced at the general meeting will be extended due to the postponement of the general meeting schedule. The extended application will take place for about two months from the end of this month, and details can be found on the official website of the World Forest Conference (https://wfc2021korea.org).
Park Eun-sik, head of the World Forest Service's preparatory planning team, said, "The World Forest Conference is the most important event in the forest sector involving about 160 countries around the world, and it is a good opportunity to enhance national prestige and strengthen diplomatic positions in the forest sector. I hope the people will pay a lot of attention to the success of the World Forest Conference."
