Geoje is one of the hottest spots in Korea these days and there are a lot of reasons why. I had never even heard of Geoje until just last year. When I discovered and visited it, it was absolutely breathtaking. They say that Jeju is the Hawaii of Korea, but I found Geoje more impressive and less touristy. It was the Thailand of Korea in my opinion.

I honestly find this island to be one of the best islands in Korea and one of Korea’s most hidden secrets. This island is one of the islands that are off the beaten path making it a perfect destination to explore. Geoje continues to amaze me as they expand their tourism.

I would say that these 2 days in Geoje are pretty jam-packed and it may take you longer to complete especially depending on where you are located and staying in Geoje.

Day 1

Tunnels of Geunpo

I would highly suggest visiting here early in the morning like almost during sunrise to get a great view of the sun but also to avoid the lines to take photos. Upon arriving here, you can get some gorgeous photos in the caves with the ocean and blue skies in the background. I would say it’s considered an Instagrammable location which is what makes it so popular. If you arrive later in the day, the wait time could be up to an hour. You can easily skip this if you want to fill it with other parts. This is pretty common to do with couples. Many couples will come here and take kissing photos together here with the beautiful sky in the background.

Hammok Pebble Beach

You can have a relaxing day at the beach or even just go to put your feet in the water. There is a gorgeous view from this beach with a smaller island in the background. This beach is a rock beach that makes for easy clean-up. You don’t have to worry about getting dirty from the sand. I found this beach more relaxing than the others because there were fewer people located on this beach. If you get hungry, I suggest ordering some fried chicken which many of the restaurants in Geoje deliver right there to the beach for you.

Windy Hill

Windy Hill is one of Geoje’s prize tourist locations. It’s off the coast and takes a few flights of stairs to get up to, but there is a gorgeous view of a beautiful windmill. This beautiful windmill is perfect for any Instagram shot making it a gorgeous view. You can easily hike further up if you want to get a better view closer to the top.

Ujebong Observatory

Finally, if you have time, visit Ujebong Observatory. It is a great viewpoint to see Haegeumgang and the other small islands of Geoje around sunset or sunrise. There is a photo frame that frames Haegeumgang Island in the background for that picture-perfect photo.

Day 2

Oedo Botania

Oedo Botania is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Geoje. This is a beautiful garden on a separate island along the coast. The island was created by a man inspired by European-style gardens. It started over 30 years ago and is usually perfect to visit during spring. The entire trip from going out there and coming back ranges around 3-4 hours depending on if you want to add Haegeumgang Island to your trip. You can book your tickets on the spot at Okseong Tour Excursion Boat Quay.

Gujora Beach

Gujora Beach

Another popular beach to visit in Geoje is Gujora Beach. This is a sandy beach located in the southeast region. It’s a perfect beach to enjoy the sand, order fried chicken, and relax with the sound of the calm waves. This is considered one of Geoje’s most popular beaches next to Hakdong Pebble Beach.

Oedo Neolseori

Oedo Neolseori is perfect for the entire family. The cafe is a gorgeous cafe with beautifully crafted desserts, and just perfect for some more photo opportunities. This cafe is hidden in a kind of a greenhouse space with a beautiful view of the ocean as well. The cafe is very popular and often filled with lots of people and families. It has more of a natural plant vibe to this cafe.

Maemiseong Fortress

This was one of my favorite places to visit in Geoje, just because I would have never thought something like this existed in South Korea. This beautiful fortress looks like something that belongs in Europe. It’s a beautiful fortress along the rocky beach making it a great location for picture-perfect photos. However, the wait for these amazing photos can be difficult to get. I suggest arriving early to get the best photos and avoid the wait. It’s also a great spot to walk around and enjoy the sunset if you aren’t too concerned with taking photos.
