Last Friday, I've had an exciting trip to Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science. The purpose of this trip was to experience the Food Market in Shinsegae for the first time. Needless to say for you to know how eager my foodie soul is!
My first impression is that the space is extremely spacious. The Food Market area is spread across the B1 floor of Shinsegae Daejeon. The next thing I knew, I was overwhelmed by the culinary diversity here, and this place is like an actual modern-version food market with style.
As a strong pastry enthusiast, I truly felt like I'd stepped into paradise when I enter this premium cakery, Gentz Bakery. I haven't had a chance to try these cakes yet, but I am sure they taste like heaven. Also, the way these pastries and gateaux look surely makes people just want to buy them right away!
I was also extremely impressed with this crab rice dish of DalCrab Seafood Grill. The food is quite pricey for its amount, but the taste is terrific. I ordered Flying Fish Roe Mayo Crab Rice and Mentaiko Mayo Abalone Rice. I was stunned by the greasy taste of crab rice with fish roe mayo. DalCrab has crafted a truly remarkable blend of flavors. I could have eaten five servings like this!
In addition, there are many other kiosks with extremely diverse cuisine, from traditional Korean food, Chinese food, Japanese food, regional specialties like Sokcho cold noodles, very famous 'fat macaron' brands like Cremignon, Scoopdang, or the famous green tea dessert brand Osullok. I also tried an egg tart from Pettir, and it was a blessing to my taste buds when the custard melted in my mouth.
In addition, the Shinsegae Food Market grocery area is really on another level! At first, I was once again overwhelmed by the variety of items here. As a lover of cooking and food, I was captivated by these stalls. I mean, look at those colorful spices and all kinds of pasta on earth!
And the next thing that caught my attention is something I've never seen before: these super-fresh greens. Shinsegae Food Market has turned customers' grocery shopping into a whole-nother level of experience with the 'Smart Farm', making food fresher than ever for shoppers.
If you come to Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, you must definitely visit Shinsegae Food Market on the B1 floor - an amazing cuisine area with completely safe untacted dining seating on the spot. Gourmet Street is sure to make it unbearable to try all the dishes!
