From April 1st, the special exhibition “Chungcheong Artist: Experienced 27 & YCA 10” will be held at the Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery, inviting 37 artists from Daejeon and Chungcheong regions. Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery, located in Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, a local corporation, provides opportunities for local citizens to enjoy culture by holding high-quality exhibitions and contributes to the development of art culture in Daejeon by collaborating with artists and planners in the local art world.
'Chungcheong Artist: Experienced 27 & YCA 10' is the first exhibition in earnest collaboration between Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery and the local art world. Since its opening in August 2021 with two special exhibitions, 'Red Riding Hood: Why did the girl walk in the forest?' and 'ART Daejeon: My First Collection', Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery has showcased collaborations with local artists and is now carrying 'Chungcheong Artist: Experienced 27 & YCA 10', which you can check today's local art at a glance, with the participation of 37 mid-level and rising artists working in the Daejeon Chungcheong area.
'Experienced 27', held in the exhibition hall inside the gallery, presents representative works and props of 27 mid-level artists from Daejeon and Chungcheong, who have been working as artists for a long time and creating their own art world. Since ancient times, numerous artists have created masterpieces that represent their world of work during their mid-career period. In 'Experienced 27', Kim Dong-yu's 'Marilyn Monroe (John F Kennedy)' work, which broke the highest price for a Korean artist at Christie's auction in Hong Kong in 2006, and architectural photography work that received a lot of attention from 'ART Daejeon: My First Collection'; You can meet representative works that have matured with passion and skill, such as the works of artists Kim In and Lee Hong-Joo, who have been receiving good responses at recent art fairs.
Meanwhile, 'Young Chungcheong Artist 10', which started an exhibition on the Art Terrace on March 1, a month earlier than 'Experienced 27', presents the works of 10 up-and-coming artists in Chungcheong, armed with brilliant ideas. The new energy presented by those who have started creative activities across genres such as painting, sculpture, and photography is unfolding on the Art Terrace, where they can breathe with more visitors.
With 'Chungcheong Artist: Experienced 27 & YCA 10', Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery has announced that it will continue its efforts to establish itself as a major base in the Daejeon and Chungcheong art world through various exhibitions and programs, including special exhibitions with more diverse local artists, support programs for new artists, and solo exhibitions by senior artists. Daejeon Cultural Foundation, Daejeon Metropolitan Branch of the Korean Art Association, and Daejeon Metropolitan Association, which have worked hard to develop local art and culture, also expressed their welcome to this exhibition, hoping for continuous exchanges between the local cultural community and the Daejeon Shinsegae Gallery.
