The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on June 9 appointed the nine-member K-pop boy band CRAVITY overseas promotional ambassadors of Korean culture.

The group will boost the nation's image abroad and promote Korean culture through a variety of activities.

KOCIS Director Park Myeongsun said, "I hope that people around the world continue to communicate with one another by using Korean culture as the medium and become one as global citizens who love culture."

Speaking at the induction ceremony for her agency's overseas promotional ambassadors of Korean culture that day at the KOCIS Center in Seoul's Jung-gu District, she added, "I look forward to CRAVITY's brisk activities as this year's promotional ambassadors."

Group leader Serim said, "We will strive to communicate with Hallyu fans worldwide and spread the charm of Korean culture to make it more beloved by people around the world."

As its first ambassadorial task, CRAVITY took part in producing a promotional video for Talk Talk Korea, a global contest for Korea-related content featuring videos, photos, illustrations, webtoons (online comics) and more. The video is available on Korea.net's official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/GatewayToKorea).

Since 2014, KOCIS has appointed K-pop acts with high recognition abroad and growth potential as promotional ambassadors for the Talk Talk Korea Contest and Korean culture.

Megastar BTS is a former ambassador for the contest, and Stray Kids, ATEEZ and LOONA previously served as ambassadors for KOCIS. They received support from the agency and eventually emerged as stars due to a public-private cooperation model.

Debuting in April 2020 with the mini-album "Hideout: Remember Who We Are -- Season 1," CRAVITY performed live at the Hallyu event KCON 2022 Premiere at Rosemont Theatre in Chicago. The group also appeared three times on the American talk show "Good Day New York," gaining recognition from fans abroad.
