The 2022 Talk Talk Korea, the world's largest competition for Hallyu content, was launched on June 15 and runs through Oct. 31.

The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on June 15 announced that it will accept over the designated period entries in a variety of formats under the event's theme "What I Love about Korea."

The contest features six general categories -- photography, webtoons, storytelling, traditional games, Korean calligraphy and travel -- plus a special section for music videos.

The submission period varies by category, so contestants should check their respective fields and submit works through the competition's official website (talktalkkorea.or.kr). The site also has the works of past winners and shows the real-time status of entries.

KOCIS will select 140 winning works ranked from first to fifth in each category through general assessment and evaluation by experts that includes online voting. The results will be announced in December.

The first-prize winners of the seven categories will each receive a five-day trip to Korea, and the other winners can expect prizes like the latest smartphones and tablet PCs.

Talk Talk Korea is the world's largest online contest for Hallyu content, receiving over 42,000 applications each in 2020 and last year. Throughout the event period, KOCIS will post lectures on webtoons and educational content on Korean calligraphy on Korea.net’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/GatewayToKorea) to enhance global understanding of Korean culture and encourage communication between participants.

KOCIS Director Park Myeongsun said, "The activities of overseas ambassadors of Korean culture have helped not only the contest but also the continued growth of interest in and interaction with Korean culture by people worldwide," adding, "I hope that people around the world continue communicating with one other through the medium of Korean culture and unite as culture-loving global citizens."
