The hit Netflix series "Squid Game" has won two Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards of the U.S.

 

At the awards ceremony held on Aug. 14 in Los Angeles, "Squid Game" beat out "Pachinko," "Narcos," "Money Heist," "Lupin" and "Acapulco" for the award for Best International Series. 

 

Actor Lee Jung-jae, who played the protagonist in "Squid Game," defeated renowned actors Gary Oldman, Tom Hiddleston and Adam Scott to win Best Actor in a Streaming Series. 

 

Lee and director Hwang Dong-hyuk gave speeches on video after receiving their awards. 

 

"It's been a year since 'Squid Game' was released, but it has overcome the limits of a non-English series to set many unprecedented records," Hwang said. "We're now making Season 2. I hope to meet viewers worldwide with a much better work."

 

Lee said, "I sincerely thank you for giving me a big prize. 'Squid Game" has been a work of great luck for me.'"

 

Earlier this year, "Squid Game" won the Golden Globe for Best TV Supporting Actor and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. It has earned 14 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series at next month's Emmys.
