Let’s Enjoy Sea Fishing in Incheon

There is a saying that goes “there is a person who has never been going sea fishing, but nobody takes it their last time.”Here are some tips for convenient onboard fishing in Incheon.

Jumping on boats from major docks – Namhang, Yeonan, Manseok Pier, etc., you can enjoy various types of sea fishing.

A port city, Incheon has many fishing ports. Many boats are luring fishermen to sea. The boats leave the port in the early morning and come back in the late afternoon carrying fishermen.

The day of onboard fishing
Usually, boats are leaving at around 5 o’clock in the morning. Captains take them to the so-called points, based on their own experiences, within one or two hours’ distance. On their way to the points, fishermen are busy having Ramen for breakfast or dreaming of big catches. Everyone has a big smile.

Rain doesn’t stop them from fishing.

While heading toward the points, everyone is checking their equipment – fishing rods, reels, and outfitting. They should be prepared to be used immediately upon arrival at the destinations.

The baits are different from fishes to fishes. For fresh baits, they prepare mudfish, squid, and shrimp. For lure fishing, artificial bait, worms in different colors are arranged.
In recent, simple-style fishing has become popular, which can be enjoyed at the seashore by young and old. Especially, webfoot octopuses and cuttlefish are favorite objects. For fishing them, EGI, an artificial bait that looks like shrimp and shining octopus balls are being used.

Here they are at points! Some boats are already getting down the business. With the captain’s whistle, every fisherman begins fishing.

It might look very tedious – dropping and raising outfitting repeatedly by the signal. But the bait, fishermen’s movement, locating a proper depth, sensing biting and pulling the rod makes a big difference. Of course, the most important factor is the captain’s know-how to locate the schools of moving fishes.

The boats are traveling back and forth from nearby islands – Youngheungdo Island, Palmido Island, Seungbongdo Island, Ijakdo Island to distant Deokjeokdo Island.

Common fishes of the West Sea – rockfish, flatfish, rock-trout, and bass are being caught. Among the fishermen, the feelings of joy and envy are being exchanged.

Some cook the fish on the spot. Others are trying to catch one more.
While everyone is busy with their own business, the time to go back is nearing. It’s sorry but it’s time to leave now,
The boats are heading toward the port in hopes of a next big catch.
