On January 17th, Mayor Lee certified his donation to the hometown love donation campaign in four districts of Daejeon (excluding his residence) and in Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk regions, and participated in the certification relay.

Mayor Lee stated, "Through this hometown love donation certification relay, I hope that public interest in the hometown love donation campaign will increase. I will work hard to promote the system and discover fund-raising projects to ensure that the donated funds are well-utilized for the development of Daejeon."

Furthermore, Mayor Lee recommended Park Wan-su (the governor of South Gyeongsang province), and Kim Jin-tae (the governor of Gangwon province), as the next participants and encouraged their participation in the campaign.

The Hometown Love Donation Campaign is a system in which individuals can donate to local governments, including their hometowns, and the local government uses the funds for community development. This system will go into effect on January 1, 2023, and has already garnered participation from many citizens. Donations can be made through the online system ‘Hometown Love e-sound - 고향사랑e음’ or by visiting Nonghyup Bank branches nationwide. Donors will receive tax benefits and can receive local specialty products worth up to 30% of their donation amount as a gift.
