The 20th Seoul International Food & Tableware Festival | World Food Olympics Seoul | World Gourmet Festival, organized by Chairman Yang Hyang-ja, will be held at the Yangjae aT Center from May 5th to 7th. This event is a great opportunity to observe the latest trends in various food cultures, such as food spaces and food design, which represent the world's typical culinary cultures and food exchanges. It is jointly sponsored by the World Tableware Organization (WTCO), the World Food Culture Research Institute, the Korean Food Coordinator Association, and the WTCO's overseas member countries, with 13 participating countries including Mongolia and Vietnam.
This event, held for the 20th time this year, will include aspiring chefs and professional chefs from domestic and overseas WTCO member countries, as well as small business owners, major domestic restaurants, and representative manufacturers of tableware, food, and lifestyle-related products. It will provide a platform for information exchange and development of the food culture and tableware industries, both domestically and internationally.
The event will also feature various side events, including the World Food Coordinator Olympics (a private-sector competition for Korean food coordinators sponsored by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Industrial Training Corporation), the World Food Olympiad (sponsored by the Ministry of Public Administration and Safety, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and Seoul Metropolitan Government), and the Small Business Cooking Competition (sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups), all aimed at fostering future chefs and food coordinators.
The Seoul World Food Olympiad competition, a special event, will feature cooking, bakery, dessert, food styling, wine, coffee, and rice/kimchi/coffee sommelier competitions, as well as the International Top Chef Master competition organized by WTCO, in which 15 teams from 13 WTCO member countries such as Turkey, Taiwan, and Syria will participate online. The event will attract about 3,200 participants, including small business owners, high school and university students, and aspiring chefs.
